Let’s Talk About It

Hi everybody :) Abby here, back in your inbox. This newsletter, which was previously Glow Report, is now MOVI Report!

I named Glow Report because as a fitness professional myself (personal trainer, yoga / pilates instructor, wellness business founder) I didn’t identify so much with the word ‘fitness’ for how I’d describe the industry I work in. Fitness is intertwined with wellness which is enmeshed with health and I feel like the substance of the word is getting lost in all the noise of ‘fitnesswellnesshealth'.

My clients are more so focused on healthspan / longevity, confidence, aesthetics, athletic performance and wellbeing as their grounding ‘why’ to move their bodies and I really thought ‘Glow’ more accurately described the collective goal. Plus, I wanted this newsletter to include news about women’s health and I liked that glow has a feminine edge.

But, as I was writing these newsletters, I found myself wanting to write specifically for others in the industry. A career as a fitpro is HARD - long hours, taxing on the body, low stability, unpaid work, constant hustle - but worth it. The signs that the industry is booming and will continue to grow (amid an otherwise murky economic climate) is so encouraging and the industry as we know it today will look very different in 1, 5, 10 years. I want to stay on the frontlines of reporting but more importantly, I want to be an advocate for the betterment of the lives / careers of people who actually power the industry!

So, when I got down to what ‘industry’ I’m talking about, I came to realize that what I have been making so complicated is really quite simple. It’s not, fitnesswellnesshealthglow - it’s movement. Plain and simple. So, this newsletter is dedicated to the happenings of the Movement Industry aka MOVI!

In addition to MOVI news, I will be exploring some of the dicier topics that affect us MIPs (Movement Industry Pros) like payment structure, new rules of social media, non competes and more, because I love this industry and the people who power it - so its time we grow with it.

New website too, which is still a work in progress - movementindustry.com
